DA Final Project
FINAL DAA. Context: The conversation is between Triyatun and Impian. They are talking about the result of the drama’s meeting. Impian Interrogate Triyatun, why she didn’t come to the meeting. The conversation is takes place in the out of class when drama class was going to start.
B. Data of Conversation
1. Triyatun : hi Dream, where are you going? (0.2)
2. Dream : eh…I want to ::: go to::: the::: class 3. Triyatun : (0.3) what class? 4. Dream : drama class 5. Triyatun : oh…oh…ya…um… how about the result of the meeting tonight? I didn’t ATTend to the meeting because of my business. 6. Dream :hey…why you didn’t attend to the meeting? We discussed many things. 7. Triyatun :ehm…sorry::: my boyfriend has (0.3) my boy::: um…my boyfriend just arrived from Bandung, I had dinner with him. 8. Dream : hello::: you gave more attention for your personality. Our drama is facing my friend::: you know::: 9. Triyatun : sorry::: yah::: because::: I can’t meet my boyfriend as I want, while the drama can be can be conducted as the schedule you know::: so, please::: tell me the result of the meeting. 10. Dream : should I tell you? 11. Triyatun : yeah, of course. 12. Dream :um…um..// 13. Triyatun : please:::. 14. Dream :um..um..yes as you know that our trainer was furious, we discuss about the setting of the stage, we discuss about the make-up and of course the costume. 15. Triyatun : (0.4) how about the choreo? 16. Dream : (0.2) um…a…the choreo, oh yes a…we::: we have a new trainer of choreo, the are two girls from institute art of Indonesia// 17. Triyatun : //who is she? 18. Dream : um…Mbak Meila and Mbak Shinta. 19. Triyatun : oh::: just it? 20. Dream : yes, just it. Um…no anything else (0.2) Oh sorry I’m in hurry a…I will send you sms then. Ok? 21. Triyatun : ok…thank you. I’m waiting for your information Dream. 22. Dream : ok ok wait wait, don’t forget// 23. Triyatun : //don’t worry I will attend to the meeting tonight 24. Dream : ok of course. See you 25. Triyatun : thank you. Daa….. C. Analysis: 1. Character and Characterization From the conversation above, Triyatun didn’t show her consistency. At the beginning Tri didn’t feel guilty as supported in her sentence “I didn’t attend to the meeting…” (As in 5) which implies that Tri didn’t come because of her personal bussines. Impian feel fed up, because Triyatun’s attitude in ignoring her mistake (as in 8). Triyatun is the type of defended person she try to make sure Impian that her reason doesn’t represent her ignorance, it is proved when Triyatun beg Impian to tell her the result of the meeting, because she is still have responsibility in the meeting (as in 9). Actually Impian didn’t want to tell the result, because she thinks that Triyatun is selfish person, but on the end Impian tells Triyatun about the result, because she didn’t want to make Triyatun sad. Impian explain that on the meeting have two trainer guest, and also the meeting discussed about the make up and the costume, in the end of conversation Triyatun thanked Impian, who has tell her the information, impian is in hurry so impian close the conversation quickly (as in 20). 2. Aspect marked in the conversation a. Backchannels: it is vocal indication within an extended turn of Triyatun to Impian that they are listning common ways smiles and says um……. (as in 5)She says it and in her mind thinking about something words or sentence to says something with her partner. Not only Triyatun but also Impian showing backchannels aspect in her speech (as in 12), it means that Impian still confuse both explain it to Triyatun or not. b. // Overlap: overlapping happen when Triyatun and Impian talking at the same time in conversation (as in 12,16,23) the overlap both them show that Impian and Triyatun are type of talkative persons, they inpatient to wait her partner finish her speech so they insist to speak at the same time with her partner and overlap is conduct. c. Pauses: this conversation happen with many pauses during the conversation. The pauses happen when the other partner indirect answer or responds the speaking before, usually they are slowly to responds because they still thinking something or their talk not clear. d. Turn-taking: this conversation is about Triyatun and Impian, so the turn-taking aspect is the change of Triyatun and Impian conversation. e. Conversation style: it is a particular way of participating in conversation. In this conversation, the conversation happens in out of class, so the style of the conversation is informal conversation among the students. 3. The adjacency pairs of the conversation a. Praising · Questioning: from the conversation above the praise of Questioning showed by Impian when she ask the reason from Triyatun, why she didn’t coming to that meeting? (as in 6) · Disbelieving: Impian implying something about Triyatun’s diner. Impian interrogate Triyatun why she didn’t come to the meeting because of she had dinner with her boyfriend. Impian thinks that Triyatun is selfish person, because she get more attention to her personal bussines than her responsibility in drama’s meeting. · Confirming : when Triyatun explain her reason to Impian she repeat a phrase “boy friend” until three times, it means that Triyatun stress on that phrase because she inform Impian that she has a boyfriend now. b. Refusing Impian gives allusion in her speech because she disappointed with Triyatun habit, she says “should I tell you” (as in 10) with the meaning, and she didn’t want to explain the result of that meeting although in the end she explains it forcedly.
